Our Mission

Founded in Tucson, Arizona, in 2021, by artists Alejandra Platt-Torres, Victoria Westover, Shelli Hall, and Britten Traughber, BorderLens/SW is an eclectic community of women photographers and cinematographers living in the US Southwest. Our work ranges from documentary to fine art and from traditional to digital. We nurture individual artistic and collective growth through member activities, including exhibition, education, and social connections. We interact with sister collectives in Mexico to share projects, inspire one another, and promote each other’s work.

Membership is open to women photographers and cinematographers — amateur or professional — who live in the Southwest of the United States: Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Southern California.

BorderLens SouthWest is dedicated to lifting up the diverse individual voices of all femme artists in the Southwest including trans, queer and non-binary people. We acknowledge that Tucson is located on Tohono O’odham Nation homelands and the lands of the Pasqua Yaqui Tribe. We are committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.
